Child Protection & GBV Prevention

Child Protection & GBV Prevention

At YIA Baidoa, we believe every child has the right to grow up safe, protected, and free from harm. Our programs work to prevent and respond to child abuse, neglect, exploitation, and gender-based violence (GBV), while building strong community systems that safeguard vulnerable children and women.

Our Focus

  • Awareness & Advocacy: Educating communities about child rights and GBV prevention.

  • Prevention Programs: Promoting safe spaces for children and women, especially in displacement settings.

  • Response Services: Providing psychosocial support, referrals, and access to justice for survivors.

  • Capacity Building: Training community leaders, teachers, and parents on child protection and safeguarding practices.

  • Partnerships: Working with government agencies, NGOs, and grassroots organizations to strengthen protection systems.

Impact

  • Reduced stigma around reporting GBV and child abuse.

  • Increased awareness of child rights in South West Somalia.

  • Safe spaces established for vulnerable children and women.
